The Musculoskeletal system
- Choose one activity we have completed in class and describe what your task was.
- Kahoot: For kahoot we had to figure out the bones and muscle in the body. I worked with Brodie and jack because jack's computer froze. It was very difficult for me because I didn't know what I was doing.
What are the three types of muscles?
- The cardiac is the muscle found in the heart & moves continuously without control.
- The skeletal muscle is found throughout skeleton & the person controls movements.
- The smooth muscle is found in organs such as intestines & moves continuously without control.
- Describe what agonist and antagonist muscles are?
- The agonist is the muscle that shortens when shooting a free throw in basketball. The tricep brachii is the muscle the shortens when you shoot the basketball. When shooting a basketball elbow flexion is the flexion you use.
- The antagonist is the muscle that lengthens when shooting a free throw in basketball. The bicep brachii is the muscle that lengthens during a free throw When shooting a basketball elbow flexion is the flexion you use.
Hey Paris, I love the GIF you have included as it relates to your description of agonist and antagonist (and looks cool!). Just to clarify - elbow flexion is bending your elbow, the agonist is your biceps brachii, because it is getting shorter and your antagonist is your triceps brachii because it's getting longer. Elbow extension is the opposite :) Love seeing more posts from you, and looking forward to reading more posts!
ReplyDeleteKia ora Paris,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tania and I will be the Facilitator who comments on your blog. You may recognise my name from the emails I have been sending out to get Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu started. I live in Whangarei but do spend quite a bit of time in Auckland for work. Great to check out your blog for the first time. I look forward to following your learning at Tamaki College. I especially like that your post is a good mix of writing, pictures and video. There was a whole lot of new learning for me so relating it to basketball worked well for me as a reader. Thanks for sharing your learning in a creative way. It must be great to be blogging again and to be able to look back at your learning from Pt England School. Have you checked out your posts from 2011?
Tania
